A Chinese villager has turned down 10,000 yuan (A$2049) to instead return a beautiful sea turtle to the sea.
Li Awei and his friends were fishing near their village when they pulled up his net and found it was unusually heavy, according to Chinese news outlet NetEase.
After his friends managed to get the net up to his boat they realised the red, yellow and orange-coloured sea turtle had accidentally been caught.
Despite being offered large sums of money from some fellow villagers, he turned it down - opting to take the good karma instead.
Locals reportedly believe seeing such a turtle is auspicious, and rather than risk misfortune they agreed to return him to his rightful place in the water.
After revealing the pictures of the majestic looking turtle, the Bureau of Ocean and Fisheries identified the turtle as an Olive Ridley sea turtle, which is listed as a second-class nationally protected marine animal.
