Mirror: A dog has been reunited with his delighted owner after he was found inside a terminal at Manchester Airport .
Airport staff called police when they discovered the dog wandering around Terminal 1 in the early hours of this morning.
Two PCSOs chased after the pooch and managed to capture him, despite one of the officers falling over in the process.
Luckily, the dog, named Diesel, was microchipped and police were able to trace the owner, a woman living in Salford.
His grateful owner rushed to the airport to collect him and has taken Diesel back to his rightful home.
Sergeant Steven Jameson, from Greater Manchester Police's Airport team, said: “We don’t know how he got there to be honest. It looks like he escaped from their garden eight months ago.
“They are not based near the airport. He was presumed lost or otherwise.”
Sgt Jameson added: “He is the friendliest, daftest, sweetest dog and we all loved having him here today.
“Our job allows us to deal with a variety of situations but this is definitely a first and it’s a tale we will never forget.
“We have no idea how Diesel got here, maybe he wanted a nice holiday away, but we currently have no leads as to what he’s been up to for the last eight months.
“I am so pleased we found his family. His owner was in complete shock when we called her and she couldn’t stop crying and it was lovely to see them reunited.”
It remains a mystery as to where Diesel has been for eight months and how he came to be the airport, but police said he appeared to be in good health.
The puppy went missing after he escaped from his owner’s garden in February.
Airport police have said the incident stresses the importance of having dogs microchipped.
A wonderful new for his owners.
