"If you want a healthy, guilt free snack, then you will love this homemade healthy Nutella recipe. Nutella is synonymous with hazelnut spread, but it contains artificial sugars and other potentially unhealthy ingredients.
Made using natural, organic ingredients and no artificial sugars, you can make your own chocolate spread for adding to organic crackers, whole grain toast, and other healthy snacks. The following homemade healthy Nutella recipe should yield about 1 cup of spread and remain fresh, when stored properly, for up to a week.
- Homemade Healthy Nutella Recipe:
In addition to the ingredients listed, you will also need a clean kitchen towel and a food processor. Everything listed below is allowed, as part of a vegan diet, and other organic meal plans. When selecting the honey, make sure that you choose raw, organic honey.
Also, if you cannot find the pink Himalayan salt, you can opt to leave it out; though, this will have a minor effect on the taste of your spread.
- Ingredients:
Gather the following ingredients for the homemade healthy Nutella recipe, before starting the recipe:
6 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups of hazelnuts
3 tablespoons of coconut oil
½ cup of rice milk
2/3 cup of raw, organic honey
1/8 teaspoon of pink Himalayan salt
- Directions:
1. To start making your homemade Nutella spread, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (176 degrees Celsius).
2. Spread the 2 cups of hazelnuts on a baking sheet. Make sure that you have a single layer and try to spread the hazelnuts evenly. Toast the hazelnuts for 12 minutes, or until they are slightly brown.
3. Remove the hazelnuts from the oven. Place a clean kitchen towel on your counter and pour the hazelnuts on to it. Wrap them up and then rub them vigorously. This will remove the loose skin. You may notice that some skin still clings to the nuts, which is perfectly okay.
4. Let the hazelnuts completely cool and then place them in your food processor. Blend them until they create a nut butter.
5. Add the rest of your ingredients to the food processor, but only use half of the rice milk (1/4 cup, instead of a ½ cup). Blend the ingredients until the mixture is smooth. If you are happy with the consistency, then you are done. If it is still too thick, add some more of the remaining rice milk.
This homemade healthy Nutella recipe is easy to make. Whip up a batch and then place in your fridge. When storing, keep in an airtight container to avoid spoiling. You should be able to keep it for up to a week, if you do not use it all up before then.
Eating healthy does not mean that you cannot indulge in snacks. You just need to find the right recipes. There are many ways to still get your fill of chocolate and other satisfying snacks, without consuming artificial sugar and other unhealthy ingredients. Give this recipe a whirl and enjoy your homemade chocolate spread".
