Actress Emilia Clarke, who catapulted to fame as Daenerys Targaryen in HBO's "Game of Thrones," recently revealed the secret to navigating the crazy world of fame.
In a recent interview with USA Today, Clarke revealed, "I have a rule: I just don't Google myself." The 29-year-old English actress then added that she chooses not to take a gander at the stuff other people tagged her in social media, on the grounds that it only destroys her.
"Like, 'Oh, I'm hideous and fat,' but then if I don't read it, you save yourself from finding any haters out there," Clarke explained. "If you hate me, I don't need to know."
Another thing that helps Clarke stay grounded is that she does not frequently get recognized in public, which apparently makes the series' ever-growing popularity as much less overwhelming. She then gushed about how fortunate she is that her day-to-day appearance exceptionally differs from her character in the show.
According to Clarke, such thing apparently allowed her to observe the accomplishment of the show from a far distance and described it as a lovely thing. The actress then stressed on how such thing allowed her family and close friends act naturally with her while strolling down the road.
Although Clarke's adjustments have been truly gradual and moderate, the actress noted that her life has completely transformed in an immeasurable way, as she explained, "[It's nice] being able to do what I love all the time, and have that to help my family and my friends."
Clarke rose to worldwide fame after she was given a role of Queen Daenerys Targaryen in HBO's medieval fantasy show and debuts in the series premiere on April 17, 2011. She supplanted actress Tamzin Merchant, who assumed the role in the unaired pilot episode.
Based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels, the medieval-fantasy series has confronted serious backlash for its depiction of sexual violence against women and its frequent use of female nudity. Numerous critics' deemed these themes as disturbing and unacceptable.
Nonetheless, the drama's ongoing sixth-season is well received by critics across the globe. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a rating of 94 percent with an average score of 7.9 out of 10.
Meanwhile, Clarke currently stars as Louisa Lou Clark in the movie adaptation of Jojo Moyes' "Me Before You" alongside actor Sam Claflin. The British-American film was recently released on June 3 in the United States and has earned nearly $27 million, as of June 5, Box Office Mojo reported.
