With this initiative humans and their pets could say goodbye to the horrible experience of being in the hospital. Being hospitalized in the hospital is an overwhelming and exhausting experience, both for the boarding school and for loved ones. This agonizing moment increases when the patient is a child.
To make the hospital stay a less hostile experience, the Community of Madrid and Hospital Rey Juan Carlos de Móstoles in Spain had a brilliant idea: to allow children to receive once a week the visit of their pets.
This initiative was inscribed by both institutions in the Health Care Humanization Plan, where it is proposed that hospitals make the stay of their patients less uncomfortable.
At the moment, the only one to implement this measure is the Rey Juan Carlos University Hospital, which undertakes to keep the visitors room clean and disinfected so as not to have risks in patient recovery.
In order for pets to enter it is necessary to check that it is freshly bathed, and that in case of a history of aggression, other safety requirements are met. In addition, visiting dogs can enter every Tuesday from five to six in the afternoon.
In addition, children have the right to eat food prepared by their families once a week, as well as dressing in their pajamas at home and having their favorite toys.
