The brassiere, more commonly known as the bra, has existed in one form or another for a very, very long time. Ancient Greek women wore an "apodesmos/mastodeton," a band of wool or linen that was wrapped across the chest and then tied or pinned at the back. The term "brassiere" was first used in English in 1893 to describe what essentially resembled a camisole, stiffened for support using bones. In 1914, Mary Phelps Jacob was given the first U.S. patent for a bra.

Today the bra has become an essential item for many women, while many others reject it based on their comfort and/or sociopolitical viewpoint. That's why YouTuber Ray Lee has come up with this simple DIY method of eliminating the back portion of a standard bra, without sacrificing support.
