Renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking has always been dedicated to the study of life on earth and has repeatedly stated the importance of "exploring space" in search of other planets to inhabit.

The End of Life on Earth: the scientist Stephen Hawking put a date to the apocalypse

The Daily News reported, the British scientist said during the Tencent WE summit that took place in China that the planet earth will burn in 600 years.

Recently, Hawking had already generated controversy for claiming that humanity must leave the planet Earth in the next 100 years if it wants to survive. The physicist explained his theory in the combination, mainly, of two factors: a disproportionate increase in population and a high demand for energy, which will lead to that apocalyptic scenario.

In this regard, Hawking called on humanity to leave our planet as soon as possible and stressed the need to build spacecraft that are capable of flying long distances.

The British media awoke the alarm by pointing out that the scientist predicted the end of the world as we know it today: "We should leave planet Earth in 100 years ... or find ourselves face to face with extinction," Hawking said.

At the same summit, the scientist said that the Alpha Centauri star system, which is made up of the stars Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B, would be the most viable option for humanity.

This system is located, according to information from NASA, 4.3 light years from Earth, in the constellation Centaurus.
